1/1/2026 -- We're expecting!
We found out, a few days ago, at home, that we're pregnant with our first baby -- that feels absolutely wild to type! We're attempting to remain calm and are waiting for our first doctor's appointment. At the time of writing this we're building out this site, using a template created by someone else and replacing stock photos with ours.
This morning when discussing how we should announce to you, we remembered the hilarious gift we received, in 2018 and have fondly displayed since, from Alex's Father Henri (Ahn-ree) and Uncle Carl (Car-l) -- a beautiful photo frame with our faces added on top of the stock photo. It was their sweet and subtle encouragement of us to start our family.
In the 7 years since then, the encouragement has become much less subtle. So without further ado, we're preparing for our sweet little one, arriving Fall 2026.
1/27/2026 -- First Sighting
Our first ultrasound was yesterday morning! One or more of us in the room may have cried upon hearing our baby's heartbeat for the first time. So much relief, joy, excitement, and gratitude came over us all at once. We saw them move their little arms and wiggle a bit -- a celebration dance perhaps. "Hey Mom, look at me, I'm on TV!" is maybe what they were saying, we can't say for sure.
Haha... So now we wait for the postcards to arrive. Cravings have been outnumbered by aversions, however we've got a good routine going to mitigate the nausea, so far. Our next appointments have been scheduled and the second trimester starts in about a month!
2/23/2026 -- It's a ...!
We've hardly been able to stand it. The anticipation of the last 10 business days, while we waited for the fetal sex results to come in was rough. We managed somehow to stay brave and occupied our time. Now however, the results are in!
Kelsey unsuccessfully lobbied for a cake as the vehicle for gender revelation. She lobbies for cake on almost a monthly basis for any given reason. Saying no, specifically to cake, sadly has become second nature for Alex. We also won't be throwing a gender reveal party, nor shooting off a pink or blue confetti canon. We'll just tell you, finally, here. We're having a boy! 💙
